Roger L. Arner

Roger L. Arner, 83, of West Penn Township, died Wednesday evening in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Hazle (Gustus) Arner. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on October 1, 2017. Roger was a self-employed truck driver for over 35 years and later retired from Bryan Miller Trucking Inc., Andreas. Born at his home in West Penn Township, he was the son of the late George H. and Madolyn (Balliet) Arner. He was a member of St. Peter’s Union Church, Mantzville. He was an Army veteran. Roger was an avid WWE fan and enjoyed word search puzzles, he previously coached Little League Baseball in Tamaqua and played softball for St. Peter’s Church League. He was preceded in death by a brother G. Richard Arner. Surviving in addition to his wife, are two sons, Roger “Buddy” Jr. and his lifelong companion Maryann Neidlinger, Tamaqua, Rick and his wife Debra, New Ringgold; two grandchildren, Ryan Arner, Tamaqua and Andrea, wife of Jason Smithmyer, Coalport; great granddaughter, Avonelle, the light of Pappy’s eyes, a sister-in-law, Gloria Arner, South Tamaqua; nieces and nephews. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Hartman Funeral Home, 1791 West Penn Pike, Rte. 309, New Ringgold, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
