Gwendolyn M. (Fritz) Houser

Gwendolyn M. Houser, 94, of West Penn Township, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday January 6, 2018, in St. Luke’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Coaldale. She was the wife of the late Curtis L. Houser, with whom she started Houser Auctioneers over 70 years ago. Gwen was a dedicated wife and mother, and supported her family’s endeavors. Born in West Penn Township, she was the daughter of the late William S. and Luella (Hoppes) Fritz. She was a devoted member of Zion’s United Methodist Church, Reynolds, where she participated in numerous church activities. Previously she was a member of the West Penn Lioness and enjoyed going to flea markets, reading, playing piano and scrabble. Gwen was preceded in death by a daughter, Lois Breiner and a brother, Arthur Fritz. Surviving are two sons, Douglas A and his wife Linda, Schnecksville, Timothy M. and his wife Marie, New Ringgold; a sister, Grace Breiner, Ocean City, NJ; son-in-law, Larry Breiner, Ben Salem; 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10am on Thursday, January 11, at Zion’s United Methodist Church, 21 Reynolds Rd. Tamaqua, PA 18252 with Rev. Garry Snyder officiating. Friends may call at the Hartman Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 10, from 6-8pm, and on Thursday at the church from 9:30 to 10am. Interment will be in Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown.
