Lamar R. Kunkel, 66, of Tamaqua, died Monday, August 27, 2018. Born in West Penn Township, he was the son of the late Paul and Arlene (Knepper) Kunkel. Prior to retiring as a lifelong truck driver, he was employed with Leiby Trucking, the former Van Buskirk Trucking, Andreas, and John Steigerwalt Trucking, New Ringgold. He was previously employed with the former M.E. Nester Wholesales, Tamaqua, and Tam Pallet, Lehighton. He was of Protestant faith. Lamar was passionate about farming, hunting and the outdoors. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ernest, John and Kenneth, and three sisters, Shirley Moyer, Carolyn Rumble and Elizabeth Bechtel. Surviving are a son, Dennis and his wife Jessica, AZ; three daughters, Vicki, wife of John Brunda, Tamaqua, Beth Ann, wife of Henry Mickelson, Catasauqua, and Thais, wife of Dean Hafer, CO; two sisters, Sharon, wife of Walter Schlosser, New Ringgold, and Debra, wife of Michael Simmons, Lehighton; four grandchildren, Amelia, Connor, Cailee and Veronika, several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 am Monday, September 17, 2018, at the Hartman Funeral Home, 1791 West Penn Pike, New Ringgold, with Pastor Brent Lenhart officiating. Friends may call Monday from 10-11am. Interment to follow in Dinkey Memorial Church Cemetery, Ashfield.
