Alma J. Sterner, 85, of New Ringgold, died Tuesday, May 1, 2018, in Orwigsburg Center. She was the wife of the late Calvin Sterner who died May 4, 2009. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, always diligent in providing for the needs of her family. Born in New Ringgold, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Ida (Ely) Rausch. Alma was a member of Zion’s Stone Church of West Penn Township. She was a life member of the New Ringgold Fire Co. and their Ladies Auxiliary. She loved spending time with her family and babysitting. She enjoyed needlepointing and reading books. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Hoppes, three brothers, Russell, Clarence and Ralph, four sisters, Ruth Kemmerer, Esther Mezyk, Elsie Kunkel and Mildred Kochen, sons-in-law, Darren Hoppes and Glenn “Monk” Hill. Surviving are three daughters, Linda, wife of Richard Duda, of New Ringgold, Debby Hill, of New Ringgold, Ruth Ann, wife of Donald Zellner, of New Tripoli; a brother, Willard Bernheisel and his wife Theresa, of New Ringgold; nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, a godson, and nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11am on Monday, May 7, 2018, at the Hartman Funeral Home, 1791 West Penn Pike, Rte. 309, New Ringgold, with the Rev. Russell Campbell officiating. Friends may call on Monday from 10 – 11am.Interment will be in Zion’s Church cemetery. Contributions may be made in her name to Zion’s Stone Church, 45 Cemetery Road, New Ringgold, PA 17960.
