David G. Frederick, 70, of West Penn Township, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022, in St. Luke’s Hospice, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Lisa (Lazur) Frederick. They were married on June 6, 1987 and celebrated 34 years of marriage. Dave was a lifelong self-employed general contractor and builder. Born in Pottsville, he was the son of the late Roland C. and Kathryn L. (Barlet) Frederick. He was a member of St. John XXIII Catholic Church, Tamaqua. He had a passion for trains and cars. Dave was instrumental in acquiring multiple locomotives, including the Whitcomb locomotive that is displayed at the West Penn Township Annex Building. With his knowledge and love for trains, he also donated countless hours to preserving the local history of the railroad. He was a big-hearted man who followed his dreams by establishing the Chain Circle Shortline, which he proudly exhibited at his West Penn residence. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jake. Surviving in addition to his wife, is a son, David II, of Los Angeles, CA; three daughters, Kimberly, wife of Tom O’Leary, of Millsboro, DE, Laurie Legard, of Missoula, MT, and Molly Frederick, of New Tripoli; brother, Ronald Frederick, and his wife, Renee, of Blue Ball; sister, Carol Ann, wife of Marlin Schock, of Catawissa; six grandchildren, Aaron, Damon, Jessica, Dylan, Monet, and Adriano; nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 am Wednesday, May 4, at St. John XXIII Catholic Church, 307 Pine St., Tamaqua. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8pm Tuesday, May 3, at the Hartman Funeral Home, 1791 West Penn Pike, Rte. 309, New Ringgold. Interment in St. Jerome’s Cemetery.
