Dorothy M. (Kemmerer) Brobst

Dorothy M. Brobst, 93, of Lewistown Valley, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem. She was the wife of the late Norman A. Brobst for 41years until his passing on March 13, 1995. She worked in various shoe factories in Orwigsburg, then Atlas Powder Company, Reynolds, until becoming a full-time homemaker. Born May 30, 1928, in Andreas, she was the daughter of the late Henry P. and Olivia J. (Zeigler) Kemmerer. She was a member of Zion Church Lewistown Valley, Tamaqua. Dorothy was the best mother anyone could have asked for. She was a sweet, gentle, kind, and caring woman to everyone. She was a wonderful cook and baker, and she made the best PA Dutch potato filling and carrot cake. For many years after her husband passed, she spent almost every weekend with her two sisters going out to dinner or shopping. Her favorite pastime was doing jigsaw puzzles and was always working on one sitting by her window. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Floyd, Cleo, Ralph, James, and Arden; and a sister, Louella Gerber. Surviving are three sons, David N. and his wife, Donna, of New Ringgold, Thomas L. and his wife, Kathy, of Tamaqua, and Mark S. and his wife Amy, of Pottsville; daughter, Brenda M., wife of John Stenulis, of Schnecksville; two sisters, Myrtle Frank, of Andreas, and Mabel Leiby, of New Ringgold; seven grandchildren, Meghan, wife of Andrew Kalista, Justin Brobst and his wife, Kayla, Laura Stenulis, John Stenulis and his fiancée Hannah, Tabitha Brobst, Kyla Brobst and Jaidin Brobst; nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 14, at the Hartman Funeral Home, 1791 West Penn Pike, New Ringgold, with Rev. Jim Williams officiating. Calling hours 9:30am-11am.
