Mary Helfrich Obituary

Mary Lou Helfrich, 86, of Andreas, died Tuesday, February 2, 2021, in Rosewood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Schuylkill Haven.  She was the wife of the late Willis Helfrich Sr. Prior to retiring, she was employed at Blue Mountain Christian Retreat. Born in Coaldale, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Marie (Robertshaw) Oliphant. She was a member of Zion’s Stone Church of West Penn Township. She enjoyed working outdoors, nature, gardening and bird watching. Mary Lou was known for her hard work and her love for animals. She was also preceded in death by a son, Terry, two sisters, Frieda Geraldine Zakarosky and Anna M. “Polly” Edmonds. Surviving are a son, Willis Jr., and his wife Susan; daughter, Ruth, wife of Eugene Raymond, both of Andreas; sister, Clara J. Sembach, of Newton Falls, Ohio; two granddaughters, Eden Dawn Helfrich and Erin Jenna, wife of Rick Zelinski; and nieces and nephews. Private service with Rev. Russell Campbell officiating. Interment in Zion’s Church Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Zion’s Stone Church, 45 Cemetery Road, New Ringgold, PA 17960.
