Richard A. Degler, 88, of Andreas, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021, in his home. He was the husband of Betty (Hinnershitz) Degler. They were married on August 8, 1953 and celebrated 68 years of marriage. Prior to retiring, he ran his real estate business, Farm and Home Realty in Bally, PA for over 20 years. Born in Hamburg, PA, he was the son of the late Earl C. and Florence M. (Kauffman) Degler. He served honorably for six years in the U.S. Army with tours of duty in Ethiopia and Germany. Richard was an avid outdoorsman and he enjoyed gardening, hiking, and bird watching. He was most fond of traveling all over the world with his wife. He was preceded in death by a son Gregory, sister in-law, Nancy Degler, and a brother-in-law, Jack Peck. Surviving in addition to his wife, are a son, Gary, and his wife Angela, of Greenville, GA; daughter, Alyssa, wife of Ashfaque Chowdhury, of Oak Ridge, NC; two brothers, Dennis, and his wife Faye, of Hamburg, and Stewart, of Lititz; a sister, Marian Peck, of Broomall; two grandchildren; a great grandchild; nieces and nephews. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 3-5pm on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at the Hartman Funeral Home, 1791 West Penn Pike, Rte. 309, New Ringgold.
