Sherri L. (Serfass) Steigerwalt

August 28, 1974 ~ February 12, 2021 (age 46)


Sherri Lyn Steigerwalt, 46, of Delaware Avenue, Palmerton, passed away unexpectedly Feb. 12 at her home.
Born in Palmerton, she was the daughter of Jean (Boltz) Serfass of New Ringgold and the late Randall R. Serfass.
She attended Tamaqua Area High School where she excelled in instrumental music, highly accomplished on the flute and piccolo.
In the early 1990s, Sherri was chosen as drum major of the outstanding Tamaqua Area "Raider" Marching Band.
She was very proud to lead the 230-member unit onto the field for shows and competitions and at parades.
She also played the flute at weddings and special occasions at Zion's Stone Church, New Ringgold.
Sherri went on to enjoy a career in retail, working for Kmart and in the logistics department of J. C. Penney Distribution, Fogelsville.
She was a bright, perceptive and caring woman with love for everything in God's creation, from animals to art to nature.
She was exceptionally well rounded with her interests and talent. Sherri reveled in crafting, cooking, scrapbooking, decorating, reading and, like her dad, was a car racing fan.
Surviving in addition to her mother are son Todd Deem and wife Gabi of New Ringgold; daughter Christi Deem and fiance Sean Morgan of Jim Thorpe; son Austin Steigerwalt of Northampton; brother, Scott Serfass and nephew Chase Serfass, both of New Ringgold; and grandchildren, Fey, Aria, Reagan, Sophia and Jensen.
Also surviving: aunt, Carolyn (Serfass) Cochrane, Fogelsville; and three uncles, Donald Serfass of Hometown, Dennis Serfass of Nesquehoning and William Serfass of Schuylkill Haven.
She was predeceased by sister, Angela Serfass Steigerwalt.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hartman Funeral Home, 1791 W Penn Pike, New Ringgold, at the convenience of the family.
